May, June and September — warm and sunny, lower crowds than peak summer, the city is beautiful in spring bloom and autumn colour. The Christmas market period (late November through December) is also exceptional.
🌸 Spring (March–May)
March: Cold but improving — temperatures 5–12°C. Few tourists. Cathedral Island in early spring mist is atmospheric. Good for budget travellers — lowest hotel prices of the year.
April: 10–16°C, increasingly pleasant. Easter sees some local festivals. The city begins to come alive with outdoor café seating.
May: One of the best months — 16–22°C, the city is blooming, outdoor restaurants fully open, long daylight hours, before the peak summer crowds arrive. Highly recommended.
☀️ Summer (June–August)
June: Excellent — 20–25°C, long days, the Wrocław Good Beer Festival (June) is Poland's largest craft beer event. Book accommodation 4–6 weeks ahead.
July–August: Peak season — 24–28°C, most tourists, higher prices. Still excellent but book everything ahead. The Rynek is busy at all hours. Cathedral Island is at its most visited — go early morning or evening.
🍂 Autumn (September–November)
September: One of the best months — 18–23°C, golden light, summer crowds gone, excellent value. The Jazz on the Odra festival. Highly recommended for photos.
October: 12–17°C, beautiful autumn colours in Cathedral Island's trees. Fewer tourists. Good hotel prices.
November: Getting cold (5–10°C). The Christmas market preparations begin mid-November. Fewer tourists but the city is still very liveable.
❄️ Winter (December–February)
December: The Wrocław Christmas market is one of Poland's finest — the Market Square transforms from late November through December 31. Mulled wine, traditional crafts and extraordinary atmosphere. Cathedral Island in snow with gas lanterns is genuinely magical.
January–February: Cold (−5 to 3°C), snow possible. Very few tourists — the lowest prices of the year. Cathedral Island and the Market Square at dawn in winter are extraordinary if you can handle the cold. Indoor attractions (Panorama, National Museum, Aula Leopoldina) are excellent in winter.
