Paris has a reputation for being expensive — but it doesn't have to be. Here's how to keep costs down:
A boulangerie lunch (baguette sandwich + drink) costs €6–8. Metro tickets are €2.15 each or get a day pass. Many world-class museums are free on the first Sunday of each month.
Paris has two main airports: Charles de Gaulle (CDG) — the main international hub — and Orly (ORY), which handles many European routes.
From CDG, take the RER B train directly into central Paris for €11.80 — it takes about 35 minutes. Taxis cost €50–60.
From other European cities, the Eurostar from London (2h15), and high-speed TGV trains from Brussels, Amsterdam and Lyon make Paris one of the best-connected cities in Europe.
