January
Cool (5–12°C on coast), very quiet, cheapest prices. Good for Berat and Gjirokastër. Accursed Mountains snowbound.
February
Similar to January. Carnival in some towns. Budget travel at its easiest. Riviera deserted.
March
Warming (10–16°C), spring beginning. Wildflowers appear. Good shoulder value.
April
15–21°C, Riviera opening up, Accursed Mountains trails opening. Excellent conditions — uncrowded and affordable.
May
20–25°C, Riviera swimmable (19°C+ sea), Berat and Gjirokastër beautiful. One of the best months. Pre-peak prices.
June
24–28°C, Riviera excellent, long evenings. Book accommodation 3–4 weeks ahead for coastal areas.
July
28–34°C, Riviera very busy (mainly Albanian and regional domestic tourists). Ksamil and Dhërmi packed. Book months ahead.
August
30–36°C, peak domestic tourism on the Riviera. Tirana very hot. Berat and Gjirokastër are better options this month.
September
24–28°C, Riviera quietening, sea still warm (24°C), prices falling. One of the best months overall.
October
17–22°C, very quiet, excellent value, beautiful autumn light. Good for hiking and interior cities.
November
11–16°C, very quiet. Good for Berat, Gjirokastër and Tirana — cultural season. Some coastal businesses close.
December
7–12°C, very quiet and cheap. Tirana has Christmas events. Riviera essentially closed.
Albania Weather Summary
Albania has two distinct climate zones — the coastal Mediterranean (warm summers, mild wet winters) and the continental interior (hotter summers, cold winters). The Albanian Riviera is at its best May through October. The Accursed Mountains are best June through September. Berat and Gjirokastër are pleasant year-round but best April–June and September–October.
When Are Albania Hotels Cheapest?
November through March is 50–60% cheaper than peak summer. April, May and October are 20–30% below July–August peak. The Riviera in particular has very high price variance between seasons.

What is the best month to visit Albania?
May and September are consistently the best — warm, Riviera swimmable, not peak crowded, prices reasonable. June is also excellent.
Is Albania good in summer?
The Riviera is excellent for beach holidays in summer. Inland cities (Tirana, Berat) are very hot July–August. The Accursed Mountains are perfect in summer for hiking.
Is Albania good in winter?
Very quiet and very cheap. Tirana has some cultural interest. Berat and Gjirokastër are atmospheric. The coast is essentially closed. Good for budget city travel only.
